Our Wild Solutions team are thrilled to be in the delivery phase of our ambitious and impactful project in partnership with Northern Rail!
Together, we’ve developed an estate-wide biodiversity strategy, identifying strategically significant interventions that will bring tangible benefits to biodiversity and the community, turning small spaces into mini nature hubs and transforming platforms from grey to green.
From Pollination Stations to wellbeing areas on platforms, we’re working with Northern Rail and their Station Groups to create greener, more engaging environments for both people and wildlife, delivering social and biodiversity value. It’s inspiring to see Northern’s ambition and drive in delivering meaningful, high-integrity biodiversity interventions across their estate.
Why does this matter?
The world is facing a biodiversity crisis, species are disappearing at alarming rates. This impacts all of us, not just wildlife, our ecosystems provide clean air, water and food.
Why do Northern Rail want to make their stations greener?
Northern Rail are taking actions to protect biodiversity as part of their sustainability strategy. By making small, meaningful changes at stations they are building a network of green spaces that benefit nature and people.

Refuges - stations can act as safe havens for plants and animals.
Green corridors - railway lines and stations connect wildlife habitats.

Planters - with native plants to attract pollinators
